Fascination With Fright Contest
The Halloween Season is just around the corner, so for a bit of fun this time your task is:
Create a Horror Photo-Manipulation.
Give us the fright of our lives! Freeze our blood! Scare us!
The horror genre is a popular entertainment in the publishing and film industries
and there are a many theories why we love to watch horror movies.
One of the them came from Aristotle. He said that people were attracted to scary stories
because it gave them a chance to purge their negative emotions.
He called it Catharsis - the purification and purgation of emotions,
especially pity and fear or any extreme change in emotion that results in renewal and restoration.
Fall FestivalThe wind smells like it's remembering
Remembering each autumn gone by -
All the hickory-smoked cabins in golden glens,
All the tales told on mountain-scented nights,
All the woollen scarves tucked around grizzled faces,
Each quilt sewn behind tiny windows flaming into the night,
All the cold kisses of moss ever grown on briney shores,
And all the kettles of stew piping over little fires.
The wind knows its way through the cone-tipped conifers,
Through covered bridges chipped with age,
Between the wings of wild geese,
Over festivals, full of music and spicy soaps,
And over heavy crocks of cider,
Curling strings of white vapor to warm rosy faces.
The wind sails straight into my hand as I take yours,
And all around, the years spin in slow motion.
