Update on Dad and Other thingsI apologize for not writing in a while to update. But here goes.Update on Dad and Other things2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Dad has been doing wonderful. Last few days he's been up and about, tackling a project he's long been wanting to get done around here in putting up a system of security cameras because of concerns over people walking through our yard and shady business happening in a motel right beside our yard.
As for me, I need to come out about another reason my writing has again all but stopped here on DA: I am embarking now on self-teaching myself a skilled trade as a means of making some secondary money, as seen here: https://www.facebook.com/noah.woods.927/media_set?set=a.394187264017314.1073741826.100002781304008&type=1
Yes, piano repair technician and tuning tech. I've always had a lot of musical talent, and playing piano and learning how they tick has become a big pursuit for me. In the future getting certified to work on pianos, and doing other general woodworking I can see as a means to work wi
DAD IS HOME!!!That's right! He's outta the hospital! It happened yesterday!DAD IS HOME!!!3 months ago in Personal More Like This
He was brought home by a coworker, somebody who's come to support just as much as the rest of us have when things get tough like this. So what's next? Him taking his medicine on time everyday, weighing himself everyday, and cooking his own food now. Because of the salt restrictions that have been imposed on him, it will be rare now that he gets to eat out, and also most snack foods he now can't have, and the 'Sodium' level is now the biggest thing he's going to be monitoring on food labels.
The good side however is that as long as dad can keep it up doing all this, its possible for his heart to heal the damage that's been done to it by the bacterial infection that caused all of this, and go back to work. Yes, he suffered, its now been confirmed, a bacterial infection in his heart stemming from a food poisoning incident a few months back while eating out. So yes, ever more another rea
Dad's Off The IVsUpdate for today. Thanks again for the prayers! ^^ PRAYER DEFINITELY WORKS!!Dad's Off The IVs3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Dad called me just a few minutes ago. We've been talking back and forth while watching the Manning Bowl (Broncos vs. Giants). They've disconnected him from the IV's, but still have his heart monitor hooked up. When he called me just then, he was walking a lap around the unit of the hospital he's in. Things are getting better and better. Hopefully, if things keep going well, he'll be able to come home during the middle part of the week. He's wearing his own PJs now, and its been found his heart monitor unit fits better in the pocket of it then it did in the chest pocket of his hospital gown.
Thanks much for the prayers, and keep thinking about dad. Something could still happen between now and him getting back home here.
Another Update, and Heading HomeThank you all again much for your prayers, and thanks be to God for all of you who have been praying for dad.Another Update, and Heading Home3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Things are definitely on the up and up. Dad is most likely going to be able to be discharged in the next few days, I'm guessing possibly by Saturday, but that is still just a guess.
He's lost a LOT of weight since he entered the hospital late last week. Nurses weighed him this morning and he's now weighing 160-170 lbs. where before he was 200+ lbs when he was first admitted to this huge hospital. He's lost 40+ lbs. of water weight, and is looking much, much better now, and is feeling loads better too, but still not very interested in getting up and walking around that much.
Speaking of which, its now become quite clear to him from the doctors his days of climbing telephone poles and carrying sacks of telco tools are over. His body's now forcing him into retirement from that and so he's got to find something new to do. With how he is, it'll have to
Update From HospitalWhat an eventful day yesterday! Dad, not only had a MRI yesterday, he also had a 'heart cath' procedure done yesterday as well. A 'heart cath' is basically where a wire with a miniaturized camera on the end is inserted in your arteries through an incision in the leg to allow the doctors to inspect the insides of the arteries and veins leading to and from the heart to check for blockages and to check heart valve function.Update From Hospital3 months ago in Personal More Like This
The MRI showed that dad's heart has now become enlarged, while the cath showed no blockages whatsoever in his coronary arteries, so they are all clear. Cath also showed that the surgeons won't be needed either, dad's chest won't have to be cracked open.
As for what's next, I'm the only person here now with dad, mom left the hospital and went back to the house because she'd had all she could handle of being out here at the hospital and fighting city traffic around the hospital whenever she wanted to go eat at eating places outside of it. Dad is g
Update On DadWell, got some positive news today. Thanks much for the prayers, and keep 'em coming!Update On Dad3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Dad is now stabilized, he's more than likely had tubes put in him to keep him drained of internal swelling and he's feeling measurably better as a result. Thanks to that, the docs have decided to wait until Monday to do an MRI scan on him, so he gets to sit tight today and tomorrow with the mom close at hand. Based on that, I'm going to wait until Sunday evening to take the 2-hour drive to the hospital he's at to stay overnight and be there Monday when he's put in the MRI machine. The results of the MRI are the next major data and decision point coming up, granted nothing happens over the weekend.
The fact that the cardiologists, based on the data they have now from the local hospital where I am at, are willing to wait now two days before they do any serious looking at him is a positive sign. Remember, this is the same group of doctors who did extensive work on me in the
Dad's Health Problems For the last several months, dad has been suffering various health problems, that have been making it hard for him to breathe. He's never smoked, and hardly ever drank alcohol, but he's been a workaholic all his life. I HOPE and PRAY this is not because of that, cumulative years of that...Dad's Health Problems3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Doing various things for dad, helping him out, driving him around as needed, that's what's been making it impossible to write, and now, worrying over dad is what is dominating my mind today...
Update: This all started in the spring when he suffered a bout of food poisoning, and in his body's attempts to vomit the bad food up, some of it apparently went down his windpipe and into his lungs, leading to pneumonia, so I'm wondering if what's going on now is build up of complications from it. He's NEVER smoked any tobacco, cigars, or cigarettes, so his lungs were in fine shape until that food poisoning incident.
EDIT: This song describes well the kind of man my dad i

It doesn't even have 40 votes total and he's wanting the fans to decide what he'll do for getting 400 watchers, not himself. Stop by there and vote in it before the 29th of this month, when it closes.400 Watchers Poll by a friend6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Parental CaretakerI apologize for no new posts, but I think more I need some more encouragement to get back to posting on here. Both the parents have been sick at times this summer now, and I've gotten burnt out having to be parental caretaker. More though, I need a few people to be the one to tell me 'No, you don't need to be playing video games, you need to write, write something, write anything.' Just so I can start getting a presence going here on DA again. A few to tell me it would be better if I did some writing instead of RPing over IM. The burnout from taking care of the parents from them being so ill and never seeming to get well for any good long stretch is why I'm doing those things, wanting to play video games or RP instead of write. I need some people to be able to remind me how good my writings are and help me get encouraged to continue them so they can be a better escape from having to tend to so many things in real life.Parental Caretaker6 months ago in Personal More Like This

Good Friday 2013This journal is just more going up to highlight this day that is always the saddest of my faith, in which the price was paid for mine and everybody's faults, misdeeds and wrongs done by ALL of us in the past and YET TO DO, and the forgiveness of those faults, misdeeds, and wrongs of ALL who have chosen to believe in Christ. I'm only going to just post three things. First off:Good Friday 20139 months ago in Personal More Like This
Palm Sunday, Holy Week 2013The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A huge crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down the road to meet Him. They shouted,Palm Sunday, Holy Week 20139 months ago in Personal More Like This
Bless the one who comes in the name of the LORD!
Hail to the King of Israel!"
Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said:
"Don't be afraid, people of Israel.
Look, your King is coming,
sitting on a donkey's colt." - John 12:12-15 (NLT)
To some of my watchers, I apologize if you are offended any by me doing a religious journal, but today, Palm Sunday, is the first day of the holiest week of my faith. And I just don't think it right to not let it pass without saying something about it to this world that continues to be so full of trouble and desperately needs to hear about this week, Jesus' final visit to Jerusalem that started out with so much promise and hope with Jesus' entering Jerusalem to shouts of people cry
