Twilight deepened around them, masking the woods in shadows, stealing away the golds and reds and leaving them with only the whispered blues and soft green-grays; the velvet black so sweet and inviting that stars turned their twinkling gaze to peer through the gloaming down at them. The fire, rich with flames that rose and danced, bright and vibrant, thanks to a few modifications to the arrangement of kindling by Master Splinter, crackled and sang its primitive melody. Night kissed the air with a chilled caress, but in front of them, their faces and arms and legs glowed with warmth. The contrast of cool and heat prickled their skin and ignited their imaginations. Voices murmured and broke into chuckling while fat marshmallows, held over the fire, speared through the center by sticks and in one case, the tip of a sai, swelled and blackened.
Kirby and Splinter sat side by side on one log. The man flanked on one side by Casey and Splinter wi
Kainora's First Kiss“Race ya!” Kai heard her say a second before Jinora flew passed him riding on top of a swirling ball of air. He’d been distracted by his thoughts about the day’s lesson – that earning your arrow tattoos required that you master all thirty-six airbending forms. He had asked about who had been the youngest airbender to earn their arrows, for surely Jinora could. Of course, it had been Jinora’s grandfather, Avatar Aang because he created a new airbending technique – which was the other way that you could also earn your tattoos.Kainora's First Kiss5 hours ago in Romance More Like This
“Hey, no fair!” he yelled and took off running after her. They were exploring the bottom level of the Northern Air Temple and were currently in a massive hallway that was both wide enough and tall enough that he could have used his glider, if he had brought it with him. “You have to teach me how to do that first!” Of course, he was talking about learning how to ma

twirl me around,
can you glimpse the fireflies
as we dance?
A silent audience,
blinking and providing our light,
the warm air surrounding us
is filled with those lanterns.
Can you hear the music?

We're singing even if we can't speak,
laughing even if we can barely breathe.
Dancing, listening, singing, laughing

Under the stars above,
through the yellow stars around,
I think dancing with you
would be more like having lightning bugs inside me,
replacing the butterflies for one evening.
Laugh into me,
for maybe it's not my veins filled with light
but your eyes.
Reflecting the stars that don't blink quite like
Burn Marks RevisitedCertain boys used to press their fingertips into my skin as if they were cigarette butts and I was an ashtray. They stamped out their left over guilt that wouldn’t burn away and grounded it into my skin so that when it rains, I smell smoke and their brand of cologne. I have burn marks on the insides of my palms from when they held my hands with bonfires between theirs. I have scars on the inside of my mouth from where they left their candles burning as if I was a faulty altar. They picked flowers from every garden my body grew and left them at the feet of some makeshift effigy as if they had given me a gift. I have let people ruin me. They burned me to the ground like Rome and called my ashes beautiful ruins.Burn Marks Revisited4 hours ago in Free Verse More Like This
